Windsor Police Officer Appealing Discreditable Conduct Ruling For Donating to Freedom Convoy

In a recent post we shared the story of a Windsor police officer, Const. Michael Brisco, found guilty of discreditable conduct for donating $50 to the Freedom Convoy.

He believed the convoy protest to be both peaceful and legal, a belief fully confirmed by a Supreme Court judge who ruled the convoy was legal and should be allowed to continue, sans honking.

Const. Brisco offered a small token of unity with those standing against the unlawful mandates. His donation was made anonymously, that is until the donor list was illegally hacked, and the names were exposed.

Found guilty of discreditable conduct, he was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, to be served on his days of rest…for a $50 donation. This is neither fair nor just and puts a serious mark against a 15-year police veteran, a highly respected officer with and exemplary record.

It is no surprise that he has chosen to appeal. In a press release the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) noted “Canadians, including police officers, should be able to exercise their right to freedom of expression without being penalized. We are hopeful that the Ontario Civil Police Commission will overturn Const. Brisco’s conviction. He is a defender of Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms”.

It was Trudeau’s own actions that brought about the Freedom Convoy, actions that stood in clear contradiction to our established laws. And it was his inaction that perpetuated it. If he respected Canadians, it would not have been necessary, and if he’d been willing to talk it would not have continued. Instead, we should be thankful. The Freedom Convoy brought Canadians together, showing us that the “fringe minority with unacceptable views” was anything but. We set the stage for the world to stand up in peaceful protest in support of each other.

We applaud Const. Brisco for being a man of character, allowing him to speak up when so many still cower. We look forward to a reversal of the judgement placed against him. Please stand with the many officers, veterans and thousands of Canadians who have shown the strength to stand for what they believe in and know to be right.

Adjudicator Elbers used information (that was illegally obtained and published by a hacker) to punish Constable Brisco because he donated his own money anonymously to a legal cause as is his right as a citizen. Who committed discreditable conduct? Shame on Adjudicator Elbers.
