As more information comes out regarding the Freedom Convoy and actions of the Liberal government it is clear they were overstepping both the process of law and the Charter.

Deputy Finance Minister Michael Sabia, in emails to Minister Freeland, advised he had recommended to both Comm. Lucki and the Liberal cabinet to keep the “heat” off the banks, in the unprecedented action of freezing citizens’ funds.

Email exchanges advised of “threatening activities” and “employee safety” at banks, noting that if they weren’t careful the banks would pull back. Sabia did not disclose the nature of the threats nor locations, making allegations with little credibility. It would appear the banks knew their actions were not legal, when based solely on the EA.

Sabia advised that Lucki wanted people to go to the RCMP regarding their bank accounts and suggested the government have a process similar to when a car is impounded.

Further, it has been exposed that during the round table talks in the Public Order Emergency Commission (POEC), Dr. Gerard Kennedy, law professor from U of Manitoba, and others on the committee agreed with the unprecedented action of freezing accounts.  Committee members felt this action, without court order, was justified. This just 1 month after a banking executive suggested the government label convoy participants as terrorists so that the government could move on them quickly.

Freeland’s own testimony during the inquiry stated she agreed with a banking CEO recommendation to bring in military to clear the Freedom Convoy.

As more evidence comes to light it is clear the Federal government was willing to ignore Canadians rights, circumvent legal proceedings and even bring in the Military, if needed, to clear the most peaceful protest the world has ever seen.

The POEC is supposed to release their findings and recommendations no later than February 20th.  However, given the track record of the Liberals influence and interference with the rule of law, can Canadians expect a transparent and honest outcome?  We think not.
