Seniors Arrested while filing Medical Prescription at Grocery Store

We, at Police on Guard for Thee continue to receive numerous news articles and messages about police across Canada not honouring mask exemptions. We, reiterate, this is a direct contravention to the provincial COVID-19 legislation in many of these provinces.
Please check your provincial COVID-19 legislation for details around mask exemptions.
In Manitoba, a married couple, who are both medically exempt from wearing a mask, entered their local Superstore to fill a prescription. The Superstore called the police because they were not wearing a mask, despite them indicating they had exemptions.
During this instance, police took it a step further and arrested the man for failing to identify, which is only required if they were committing an offence. This couple’s exemption was in accordance with their provincial COVID-19 legislation.

The actions of these officers and the Superstore went against Manitoba’s COVID-19 legislation and our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. All active members of police services across Canada, #RememberYourOath and read THROUGHLY your Provincial COVID-19 legislation BEFORE acting on a call for service.
This situation highlights the confusion around all the provincial and municipal COVID mandates for anyone acting in a position of authority.
