It is with heavy hearts and great sadness to learn of the passing of one of our members, Retired Deputy Chief of Chatham Kent Police, Clare Wiersma.

Clare was noted by all as a man of integrity, who could always be counted on to do the right thing. Clare has a strong faith that was a guiding force in his career and personal life. Clare joined Police on Guard and was the highest ranking member to take a stand for the Rights and Freedoms of Canadians. Even in retirement, Clare was determined to do the right thing by remembering his Oath.

Police on Guard offers the most sincere of condolences to Clare Wiersma’s family, friends, former colleagues, and all others who were blessed to meet and know him.

When one of us falls, we all stumble. We will continue to stand on guard Clare. We salute you
