One of the most devastating impacts of lockdown?

What is one of the most devastating impacts of lockdowns? The toll they’ve taken on the mental health of Canadians. This cannot be overlooked. It needs to be addressed and shared with all Canadians.

In January, 2021, Statistics Canada gathered data from 19 police forces serving 70% of the population. Here are the figures.

– Police-reported crime was down by 18% during the first eight months of the pandemic but calls for service to police increased by 8%.

– Majority of these were calls related to mental health

– Police fielded 13% more calls for general well-being checks and 12% more requests to respond to people in emotional crisis or apprehensions under the Mental Health Act, compared to the previous year.
