Justice of the Peace has ruled Tamara Lich denied bail until trial

It’s clear to us now, more than ever that, certain individuals are being used as political prisoners given the absurdity of some of the decisions we see being made within law enforcement and the court system.

Tamara Lich was arrested for breaching her conditions of release. Let’s lay this out to make it easily understandable on the events that unfolded.

-She was arrested and held in prison for weeks prior to being released in March on conditions, for her involvement in the Freedom Convoy.
-These conditions included, but are not limited to, staying off social media, not to contact several of the other convoy leaders as well as not to verbally, in writing, financially, or by any other means, support anything related to the Freedom Convoy.
– The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom announced that Ms. Lich would receive the George Jones Freedom Award at a ceremony scheduled for June 16th.
-The Crown attempted to have her arrested for breaching her conditions for agreeing to accept the reward.
-This led to a bail review in May, in which Ottawa’s Superior Court Justice, Kevin Phillips, ruled this was not a breach of her conditions and allowed her to attend the ceremony and accept the award.
– On June 16th she attended the award ceremony, along with her lawyers and permission from Judge Kevin Phillips, knowing she would be in contact with other Convoy leaders.
-Tamara was arrested at the end of June when a picture was released of her and another Convoy leader at the award ceremony
– the warrant was extended from Alberta to Ontario, this is not standard practice and usually reserved for serious offences.

Once in Ontario, she appeared before a Justice of the Peace (not a Judge) who overturned Judge Kevin Phillips previous decision.
Not only that, but Justice Paul Harris also indicated that, the onus was on Lich to prove appearing with the other convoy leaders at the event did not breach the no-contact order and she did not prove that.

This had already been decided by Judge Kevin Phillips. Instead of releasing Tamara Lich, given all that information, they doubled down and now want to hold her in jail until her trial date.
To make this abundantly clear on how absurd this is, holding someone in jail for a breach, is virtually unheard of in the legal system.
As a matter of fact, it’s very rare occasions that someone is held in custody for their trial date. This usually happens for violent, repeat offenders, and even then, it’s extremely rare.

Tamara Lich is scheduled to attend court again on July 14th, this time before a Judge, to set a date for her bail review. Let’s hope that this Judge views and weighs the evidence appropriately, instead of through a skewed narrative as propagated by the government surrounding the Freedom Convoy.
Hopefully this Judge can convey that the detention of Tamara Lich, does not serve the public’s interest in terms of justice.
