A case between a Kelowna pastor and the BC government has ended in a loss for democracy earlier this year.
Pastor Art Lucier defied Bonnie Henry’s imposed lockdowns by continuing to offer services to his congregation, believing it to be a charter-protected human right. For this he received numerous fines, one of which he fought, arguing against its constitutionality.

Danielle Smith became the leader of the United Conservative Party (UCP) on Oct. 6, 2022 and Alberta Premier just a few days later. She now continues as Premier after defeating NDP leader Rachel Notley in a May 2023 election.
Smith made comments in 2021 suggesting the police violated criminal law by enforcing COVID-19 measures.

One by one, we are seeing the tickets, fines and actions levied against Canadians as a direct result of their refusal to comply with the covid mandates, fade into oblivion.
Mr. Rachid Chadli was already out of country when the Quarantine Act came into effect. On his return trip he was told he must comply, at his own cost. He chose to contest the fine and have his day in court. When his day in court was postponed for more than two years it became clear that he would not have this right and the prosecutor dismissed his case.
