Conservative Led Bill Aimed at Preventing Future Covid Vaccine Mandates Starts Second Reading

A review of Bill C-278: An Act to prevent the imposition by the federal government of vaccination mandates for employment and travel.
C-278 is a Conservative-lead private member’s bill, initiated by Poilievre during his leadership race, now taken up by MP Dean Allison who carries the momentum forward as it enters its second reading in the House of Commons.
This bill was created in direct response to the mismanagement of Covid-19, specifically addressing the severe restrictions levied against all who chose to make their own health decisions.
“For those who made different personal medical choices, the government made them outcasts in their own communities, firing them from jobs, banning them from travelling and ostracizing them” said MP Dean Allison. “Canadians should have the freedom to make personal health decisions for themselves, without social and economic threats from the government. They have the freedom to do so, a freedom that should never, ever be cast aside again.”
Bill C-278 proposes amendments to the Financial Administration Act, Canadian Labour Code, Aeronautics Act, Railway Safety Act and Canadian Shipping Act 2001 to ensure that receiving a Covid-19 vaccine cannot be made a condition of employment in federal sectors. The bill would also prevent Canadians from being denied travel solely based on their Covid-19 vaccination status.
Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu describes the bill as a “chance to take a sober second look at the outcome and aftermath of the pandemic.”
It is no surprise that the Liberals and NDP have both expressed disagreement with the bill, implying that it is not in line with ‘the wishes of Canadians’ and further crediting the mandates for ‘leading Canada’s success against Covid-19’, when we now know the truth is that we survived the ‘pandemic’ despite these mandates, not because of them.
If you disagree with those standing in opposition to this bill, we encourage you to share your thoughts with your members of Parliament; let them know, in no uncertain terms, that these amendments must pass, and should also apply to all future events, and not just Covid-19.
