In our ongoing effort to provide the most up to date interpretation and application of the Quarantine Act, we believe that this follow up post is necessary.
We are reading many of your comments and want to clarify, and address some of the main questions that are being asked.
As of February 22, under the new Emergency Orders made by the Federal Government travellers are now required to quarantine for a period of time in hotels or other government approved facilities.
Exemptions are valid under the law. The rights of those with disabilities must be upheld.

This announcement from the Ministry of the Solicitor General in O.Reg 8/21, allows peace officers or provincial offences officers to require an individual to provide their name, date of birth, and address ONLY when there are reasonable grounds to believe an offence has been committed under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMPCA) or Health Promotion and Protection Act.
