Finding our Why

Finding our Why…

We all are human, we all have our breaking points, down moments and moments of feeling lost.
We all hit those moments in our lives, jobs, family, social life and even with ourselves; where we ask, what is the point?
We struggle with those internal demons and the mental & physical exhaustion we face every day.
We hit a wall where we feel as if we can’t go on any further, nor do we even see the point of trying to go any further.
We ask a power greater than us, to give us the strength we need to go on and to help us stand strong. Then we pick ourselves up, we dust ourselves off and tell ourselves to find our why. We usually don’t have to look too far for our why, that we needed so badly to be able to push through the darkness.

I had been struggling for a why, as to keep fighting this never-ending Tyranny, we all face today. Saying to myself, what is the point? It’s killing me inside to see the people around me hurting so bad and the more I try to help, the worst things seem to get for our society.
Then my why came to me, in the way it does for many of us individuals who have all sworn an oath to put other’s lives before our own. My why came to me from an innocent child, while I was waiting in the lineup at a convenience store.

A man in front of me had asked the store clerk if his little girl (maybe 3yrs old) could use the washroom and the clerk said yes. The man motioned for his daughter to come into the store and use the washroom. As soon as this little girl entered the store, she reached up to cover her nose and mouth with her little hand. She looked up to her Father and said, “Daddy I don’t have a mask, I’ll get into trouble.” Her father picked her up and said it’s okay, then he took her to use the washroom.
Seeing this little girl scared of being in trouble for not having a mask on, broke my heart more than anything I’ve ever seen in the whole time I worked in Emergency services.

I had found my why and it hit me very hard to. I went home and I bawled my eyes out. Then I got angry with myself for even thinking of quitting the fight from this Tyranny. I cannot and I will not accept a Canada where little children live in fear of not having a mask on their face.
I refuse to allow innocent children to be victimized by a system, that we have all sworn to protect them with.

This is why we all swore an oath, no matter what service you belong to. You promised to keep finding your why, even in the darkest moments of your life.
The shadow is that place between darkness and light. The Tyranny we all face today is the darkness and we are the light. What lays in the shadows are the innocent, and to help them all we need to do is shine our light bright enough, for them to not fear the darkness anymore.
If we’re struggling today to find our why, we just need to look at the innocence around us and we will find our why.
