Though I have some serious reservations about our much-vaunted Charter, I have long been a strong supporter of fundamental freedoms and I am worried about their slow, steady erosion. It bothers me to no end that so many police officers in this Country – and that certainly includes Chiefs and Commissioners – obviously give no thought to that day when they took their Oath of Office and swore to uphold those very freedoms.
