300 Quarantine Act Fines Dropped After Democracy Fund Challenge

The Democracy Fund is a non-profit organization providing legal support to Canadians targeted by the aggressive covid mandates.

In this particular case, they represented a group of BC residents fined for exercising their legal rights of mobility. Thanks to the financial support of donors, their legal team was able to have close to 300 BC Quarantine Act fines dropped at no cost to those they represented. This included fines issued to retired couple, Robert and Jamie Leib, totalling almost $25k.

Democracy Fund lawyer Adam Blake-Gallipeau explains that most of the fines have been issued under the Quarantine Act, typically for failing to use the ArriveCAN app and for not presenting proof of vaccination or a valid PCR test result. These both carried a mandatory minimum fine of $5750 each. In addition to these, the Leib family received further fines for refusing to answer the questions of the quarantine officer at the border, adding two additional $948 tickets and bringing their total to $24,896 in fines, all for a single trip from their home in the US to BC, where they hoped to provide support to an aging family member.

In his interview with Rebel News, Mr. Blake-Gallipeau, who lead this case, puts into perspective that the $5750 minimum is nearly six times as much as the fine for drinking and driving in the province of BC.

He goes on to describe a pre-trial meeting he had with the Crown where he outlined his position on the continuously changing rules and unreasonable mandates. Soon after, he received notice of a Crown-issued stay of proceedings for all the 212 individuals represented.

This is excellent news for the Leib family and each of the defendants, but also provides hope for other British Columbians still fighting similar cases.

We should all be concerned about the dwindling democracy and erosion of our Charter rights in Canada. We need to stand strong now and continue to do so while we are still able. Know your rights, stand your ground, respectfully but firmly, and just say no.
