So I think the most interesting part of the interview, for me, is where you are mentioning the lack of enthusiasm for hard discussions amongst Canadians. My friend was telling me how his father came to Canada 45 years ago and was totally frustrated in his quest to find hard discussions. Nobody would engage with him. I’m suggesting that running away from hard discussions is not something new in Canadian society at all, but we are mostly unaware of how profoundly childish is this behavior, and to degree to which it holds us back, even to the point of threatening our survivability.

We just have little awareness of this because we’re immersed in a soup of everyone behaving like this, and it needs to be actively addressed. When you’re in it, you can’t see it.
