I am a retired police officer with 37 years of service and I feel privileged to add my voice to the growing number of dedicated active and retired members of various police departments who have had enough of the pure violation of the rights of all citizens. I am appalled at the basic violation of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms with respect to the COVID-19 virus. I can only hope that the officers who are enforcing these unlawful COVID-19 laws are only doing so on direct orders. This however does not excuse the excessive use of force and other violations of their “oath” that we all took, among other things such as ‘protecting civil liberties’ which is the foundation all democratic societies.
My grandfather fought in WW1. My father fought in WW2. They fought for freedom. They would rise from their graves and curse those responsible for these violations of freedom. ‘We’ who took that oath will stand together and fight for those freedoms.
