Thank you Lee Keane for joining in support of Police on Guard for Thee.
Lee served almost exclusively in uniform for 32+ years and retired as a constable. Lee was a Director of the Mounted Police Professional Association of Canada and advocated for members of the force, many of whom suffered from disabilities suffered during their service. Lee’s advocacy contributed to recognition of members of the RCMP’s right to collective bargaining by the Supreme Court of Canada.
Lee is greatly troubled by the identity politics that surround policing, such as “defunding” the police. Lee is a Christian, an immigrant, and proud of his service to his nation as a veteran. He is concerned for the nation’s freedom during the Government of Canada’s response to COVID-19. Specifically, he is concerned with the clearly unconstitutional and unlawful actions of provincial governments regarding enforcement of “public health” orders as well as clear violations of the Criminal Code of Canada, Section 176(1), which makes it a dual procedure offence to interfere with church services.
Peace officers have discretion as to whether they arrest or charge suspects as well as under provincial statutes they have prosecutorial discretion. Police officers must exercise their discretion and powers within the law, especially the supreme legislation, the constitution, or Canada will descend into dictatorship.
