Police on Guard for Thee : Police arrest 2 people and fine 6 for violating Quebec Covid 19's lockdown orders at a 7-person house party Many people from across the globe have observed the viral video from Gatineau, Québec on New Year’s Eve involving local police.

Allegedly, during this incident, 6 adults and 1 child gathered in a home in Gatineau, Québec to ring in the New Year. Police responded and attended after a neighbour called police on this “illegal gathering”.
Part of what transpired shortly thereafter was captured on video. This very charged and disturbing situation is at the very crux of the concerns we have at Police on Guard for Thee.

Police across Canada are being placed in an impossible situation whereby they are being asked to enforce provincial health legislation that clearly goes against the Charter of Rights and Freedoms we have sworn to uphold.

As a reminder, if you find yourself in a similar situation, always be calm and comply with the arrest or ticket. If you bring it to our attention, we will help in any way we can.
As police officers, we cannot continue to be placed in these impossible situations. We need our courts, which we rely on for legal direction, to make a clear and concise decision on where these federal, provincial, and municipal laws stand in relation to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. We cannot continue to wait while the public is harmed and situations escalate to unnecessary violence.
Our question is clear: Do these current laws pass the Oakes test?
We truly are in unprecedented times and the silence from the courts is deafening.
If you are a fellow active or retired officer and you agree, #RememberYourOath, join us in our cause.
