News Release Regarding Charges Against Waterloo Police Officer

A Waterloo Police officer has recently been charged with several serious criminal offences. This officer had previously applied for membership within our organization. In light of these allegations the individual has been removed from Police on Guard pending the outcome of the court process.

Police on Guard’s mission statement, along with our actions and initiatives to protect our children speak to our morals and values as an organization. We will continue to advocate for the rights, freedoms, and protection of all Canadians especially the most vulnerable within our society.

The amount of information available to us is the same that has been provided to the public in the media. We became aware of this matter at the same time as everyone else from related news articles.

As this charge is currently before the courts it would be inappropriate to speculate further. This individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty and is guaranteed the right to a fair trial by judge or jury. Conjecture of any sort without the details of the investigation would seriously infringe on the legal process
