This article follows a recent announcement by Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix regarding Covid-19 vaccine mandates ending in BC.

Our August 3rd post, “Bonnie Henry, BC’s Provincial Health Officer Drops Vaccine Mandate for Health Care Workers”, explains that mandates weren’t completely removed, merely substituted with a policy requiring ‘immunity status reporting’, while still outlining potential exclusion for those unable to meet their definition of immunity.

In the fall of 2021, at the height of vaccine mandates and ‘passports’, many in the health care community gathered to stand against the tyranny they were seeing. This prompted the creation of BCPS Employees for Freedom (BCPSEF) and the United Health Care Workers of BC (UHCWBC), in defence of the basic values that make us a free and democratic society.

Soon after, thousands of health care professionals voluntarily left, while just as many stayed, fighting for their bodily integrity and moral ethics while being subjected to medical coercion and harassment before eventually being placed on leave without pay ‘with cause’; a label that denied them severance and access to employment insurance.

Members recognized that accountability and deterrence would be needed to prevent a repeat performance. They saw the mandates as “unnecessary, overbroad, arbitrary and grossly disproportionate” adding, “No British Columbian deserves to have their employment contract or collective agreement violated with impunity through the unilateral imposition of new terms and conditions absent negotiation or consideration, or to be punished and denied compensation for standing up for their medical privacy and bodily autonomy.”

“Never before in B.C. have mass terminations been carried out with such prejudice.”

Both are now moving forward with a class-action lawsuit against the BC government. They are asking for your support in demanding our government stands accountable to the people, as they should have been.

When we stand together, we have the ability to repair the damages of the past and present, and ensure our rights remain intact for our future.
