Really it isn’t. When one reads the requirements and looks at this with open eyes it simply becomes a way to change the true focus. The military personnel who exercised their Charter of Rights and Freedoms to choose a medical procedure they disagreed with are still at the whim of the Chief of Defence.
These men and women who serve in our Canadian Military deserve much more from our government and our citizens.
Another court challenge has resulted in a positive outcome for those who defied certain public health measure in Alberta.
The Charter guarantees citizens right to peacefully assemble, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression. The Criminal Code of Canada also states that interfering with a Church service is a criminal offence
This is one of many wins recently that we’ve seen using the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Police on Guard has always stood for and on the merits of the Charter.
The Charter is a much broader human rights law. It also has greater power because it applies to both federal and provincial laws and actions. And unlike the Bill of Rights, the Charter is part of the Constitution — the highest law of the land
