Police arrest 2 people and fine 6 for violating Quebec Covid 19’s lockdown orders at a 7-person house party

Many people from across the globe have observed the viral video from Gatineau, Québec on New Year’s Eve involving local police.
Allegedly, during this incident, 6 adults and 1 child gathered in a home in Gatineau, Québec to ring in the New Year. Police responded and attended after a neighbour called police on this “illegal gathering”.

Police are being asked to balance the Reopening Ontario Act, the Human Rights Code, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms that we have sworn to uphold, this includes Section 7 of the Charter – Life, liberty and security of the person. Section 7 states:
“Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice”.
