Banks Apologize For Freezing Accounts During the Trucker Convoy

Are there civil suits on the horizon for the big Canadian Banks?

Scotia Bank has officially apologized to the organizers of the freedom rally in Ottawa for the freezing of his account. In an email to Benjamin Dichter, the CEO of Scotia Bank (Brian Porter) asks Benjamin to “Please accept our sincere apologies.” Porter then further explains their actions indicating “They (the banks) did not do this of their own accord”.

In an email dated March 3rd Porter alludes to a RCMP “notification” as the impetus for the bank’s actions in the freezing of not only Dichters’ accounts but hundreds of others.

Police do have authorization to freeze bank accounts, with evidence of illegal activities, these actions must be supported by court orders after evidence of such actions has been presented before the courts, much the same as search warrants. Never before have banks frozen accounts based on a “Notification.” Scotia Bank is clearly laying blame at the feet of the RCMP.

While it is clear Scotia Bank is in full on damage control with all parties involved pointing fingers at each other the blame clearly should be laid at the feet of the Prime Minister and that of Chrystia Freeland. Their blatant disregard for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms as well as circumventing legal processes only proves they have no respect for the law or the Canadian people. However, this in no way excuses the bank as they are fully aware of the law and should have refused any unlawful requests by the RCMP which was clearly acting as henchmen for the Federal Government.

These actions by the Canadian government are beyond comprehension and should without fail be reason enough for them to fail. The ramifications of these illegal actions by the banks have destroyed the integrity and trust for years to come.
