A newly disclosed document from former RCMP Commissioner, Brenda Lucki, shows that both former and current RCMP members supported the 2022 Freedom Convoy protest at Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

The document, detailed by the Western Standard, showed Lucki was looking into communications involving members, and was actively searching the ranks for “Convoy sympathizers”.

It went on to speculate, “Was the situation in Ottawa a failure of the Ottawa Police Service?” “Did the RCMP need the Emergencies Act to resolve the protests? Was it necessary?”

While it didn’t answer most of these questions, it did note “The RCMP was able to resolve numerous blockades in our jurisdiction…all within existing legislation.”

All records from the RCMP to date have concluded that the Freedom Convoy was peaceful. This was reinforced with the words of Deputy Commissioner Brian Brennan, “There was no serious violence in Ottawa, the main reason for the Emergencies Act.”

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service concluded similarly, stating the Freedom Convoy “never constituted a threat to the security of Canada”.

And there is Richard Mosley, the federal judge who ruled that cabinet acted unlawfully in imposing the Emergencies Act, confirming it “was not justified” because “the scope of the regulations was overbroad in so far as it captured people who simply wanted to join in the protest by standing on Parliament Hill carrying a placard.” This ruling is under appeal.

Other internal records show Prime Minister Justin Trudeau considered the Freedom Convoy an embarrassment, indicating the Prime Minister’s Office feared protesters would threaten “Canada’s international reputation.”

Testimony from a judicial inquiry showed that staff were expected to bring “the full power of the federal government” against the Convoy.

The world witnessed the peaceful nature of the Freedom Convoy. We brought people together for a cause and showed that Canadians from all walks will stand together when confronted with blatant corruption.

It was not us, mister Prime Minister, that made a mockery of Canada, and many Canadians are addressing this issue through our courts, to ensure this never happens again.
