JCCF News Release – Ottawa Police Breach of Charter Rights – Right to Peaceful Assembly
On February 18th, 2022, after several weeks of peaceful protests, Canadians witnessed the total and absolute erosion of their faith in the police and their democratically elected officials.
Thousands of police officers were called to Ottawa. Horses trampled protesters, tear gas was deployed, gun point arrests occurred, and excessive force was used.

Since December 2020 Police on Guard has been standing firm for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms of all Canadians. We have been very vocal about our stance that officers need to remember the Oath they took to uphold the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Constitution of Canada.
These protections are in place to guarantee the rights of the people. This is the Oath we took and stand by it.
To those in a positions of police leadership, we urge you to please remind officers to remember this Oath

Emergencies Act
Police on Guard stands with every citizen’s fundamental right to protest. Police on Guard does not condone any action within a protest that may violate any federal or provincial legislation. In an effort to answer many questions we’ve received regarding the Emergency Act we have reviewed the legislation. What has become clear is that the nation is divided, the rule of law is in question, and Canadians are standing up for their unalienable rights in various ways whether it be by attending peaceful protests, donating to peaceful protests, or expressing their support through numerous mediums.
