Jacob Malcer of Quebec received a ticket in August 2023 for an apparent violation of the Quarantine Act from 16 months prior, in May 2022.
Fast-forward to August 2023. Malcer received a letter from the government of Quebec accusing him of having violated the Quarantine Act. He was given a $5,000 fine in addition to $1,250 in “costs.”

The Democracy Fund is a non-profit organization providing legal support to Canadians targeted by the aggressive covid mandates.
In this particular case, they represented a group of BC residents fined for exercising their legal rights of mobility. Thanks to the financial support of donors, their legal team was able to have close to 300 BC Quarantine Act fines dropped at no cost to those they represented. This included fines issued to retired couple, Robert and Jamie Leib, totalling almost $25k.

Once again, we see federal courts in Canada strike down arguments of covid-era charter violations as moot.
In a case of 11 Canadians, each fined up to $3000 for contraventions to the Quarantine Act, Justice Avvy Yao-Yao Go said that the argument of infringements to the charter rights of the applicants is now “moot” since mask and vaccine mandates have since been lifted.

One by one, we are seeing the tickets, fines and actions levied against Canadians as a direct result of their refusal to comply with the covid mandates, fade into oblivion.
Mr. Rachid Chadli was already out of country when the Quarantine Act came into effect. On his return trip he was told he must comply, at his own cost. He chose to contest the fine and have his day in court. When his day in court was postponed for more than two years it became clear that he would not have this right and the prosecutor dismissed his case.

Recently a series of charges and fines, issued because of participation in the Freedom Convoy in February 2022 or in acting contrary to legislation related to COVID-19, have been dismissed by the courts.
